It is 1855, 32 ships carrying 10,000 passengers leave Hong Kong for the gold fields of Australia. Thirty-one of these ships land at Port Phillip Bay. The last ship sails to Gulchen Bay in South Australia. Aboard this ship is the seventeen year old CHEE KIM - the only woman in a world of men but sharing a common experience of being a Celestial in a strange new land...
